The Romanes Occluder is a useful accessory for clinical testing. It is used for the assessment of visual acuity and the cover test.

One side of the handle has a millimetre scale for inter-pupillary distance measurement and for numerical measurement of ptosis.

The other side incorporates a white dot for use as a scotometry target or fixation point.
